Why are Kilts so expensive?

There are a variety of reasons. Kilts are expensive.
For one, traditional tartan kilts are 8 yards of wool which is costly. These Kilts usually cost about a thousand dollars.
Modern Kilts are made of less fabric- usually cotton or a cotton/poly blend, which brings the cost down to about a third as much as a traditional Kilt.
In particular, StumpTown Kilts cost between $155 for Women's Kilts to $195 for Men's Kilts because of the quality and craftmanship. Each STK takes a professional 4 hours to sew. Then, almost 30 minutes to rivet each key point for added strength.
